Maestro Zdravko Šljivac is conducting the Little Stars choir from Zagreb, which will participate the International Holiday Concert Let us sing Croatian Christmas together – Pjevajmo zajedno hrvatski Božić , organized by the Harmony For Peace Foundation. The concert is held in the Lincoln Center, Sunday, December 19, 2010, 3:00 PM Avery Fisher Hall. Also participating are Drago Bubalo & Angel Voices & Bells of St. Aidan, Reagan Stone, Klapa Astoria.

Croatian Creation is the trademark of best Croatian products

In late 1997 the Croatian Chamber of Economy started the Project to Visually Mark Croatian Products with Croatian Quality and Croatian Creation labels. The Croatian Quality label is given to those Croatian products whose properties meet high world standards. The Croatian Creation label is awarded to original Croatian products that reflect Croatian tradition, development, research, innovation and inventions.

Croatian Easter Eggs

Croatia has a long and rich tradition of beutifully painted Easter eggs prepared within families during Lenten time. On the left are a few such eggs from a large ethnographic collection exhibited in the famous Franciscan convent of Kraljeva Sutjeska in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We take the opportunity to wish all the readers of the CROWN and their families a happy and blessed Easter.

The Sound of Music , a well known film starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, deals with the life of Georg von Trapp who was born in Zadar in 1880. This is a true story of a war captain, dedicated to his family, the navy, the sea, different ships and submarines, etc. But it also contains many beautiful descriptions of the places and people he met along the entire Adriatic coast.

Ivo Robic 1923-2000 Croatian pop singer and a global star

Ivo Robić 1923-2000 is probably the most famous Croatian pop singer in history. For Germany’s Polydor Record Co he first cut “Morgen” in 1959, and in a few weeks the “Morgen” climbed to Germany’s top songs. It was sold in more than a million of copies, half a million in the USA! He was a guest star in some prestigious USA programs: Perry Como Show of NBC, the Ed Sullivan Show, the Dick Clark Show, etc.

Ivan Mestrovic Croatian sculptor and his Chicago Indians

Ivan Meštrović sculptured 6m high equestrian statues representing American Indians, known as Spearmen or Bowmen. The sculptures have been created in 1926 in his atelier in Croatia’s capital Zagreb. Each of them is weighing 8 tons, and placed at the entrance of Grant Park in Chicago. We invite you to see a short film from Zagreb describing Meštrović’s work on these famous monuments.

Martina Filjak from Croatian child prodigy to mature pianist

Martina Filjak is one of those few young artists who have successfully made it from child prodigy to mature musician. Her stage presence and personality regularly impress audiences and critics alike, whether she plays delicate baroque and classical pieces, or colossal works such as Beethoven’s Hammerklavier Sonata or Bartok’s 2nd Piano Concerto.
