Travels bring experiences and memories that last a lifetime. Capt. Iv Vidos and Violi Calvert

Posted on October 17, 2011

Travels bring experiences and memories that last a lifetime. They give us the opportunities to visit beautiful and interesting places, and meet amazing people. During a recent holiday my husband and I had included a 10-night Mediterranean cruise. In his welcome address I noted that the Captain is Croatian. Captain Iv Vidos reflected in his talk to passengers his great love for the sea and his mission of ensuring the safety and enjoyment of the holidaymakers as well as the staff of the ship. Aside from sharing valuable information and pointers, his good sense of humour came through his announcements before docking at various ports.

Academician Josip Pecaric reading a letter to the United Nations Security Council

Posted on October 9, 2011

We do not ask you to bury our dead. We do not ask you to defend us from aggression and terrorism. We do not ask you to protect our towns from excessive shelling. We do not ask you to prevent the shelling of Croatia’s capital, Zagreb. We do not ask you to prevent the barbaric destruction of the city of Dubrovnik, a world heritage monument. We do not ask you to prevent the shelling of Šibenik and the destruction of the St. Jacob’s cathedral, another world heritage monument. We do not ask you to prevent the shelling of Zadar, Slavonski Brod, Osijek… However, we DO ask you to release our living soldiers, whom you have imprisoned and sentenced, without proving them guilty.
