Through a collection of essays about Croatian identity, image, politics, culture, way of life and special traits, the book speaks about Croats, their history, finding its way in the European Union, and mentality. It was written on the basis of numerous facts and studies, nevertheless, it is very readable, entertaining and educational. For this reason, it will undoubtedly be an excellent handbook for getting to know Croatia and the Croats.

CRAVAT, the universaly known name of the necktie, has its origin in the name ov Croats. As an unavoidable fashion element, especially for representative pruposes, it can be met in the remotest parts of the Globe. It is without any doubt the most widespread fashion element in the world, bearing a national name. On the photo on the left is Ivan Gundulic (1589-1638), distinguished Croatian Renaissance writer from Dubrovnik, bearing the earliest known version of the Cravat. World Cravat Day, established by Academia Cravatica in Zagreb, is celebrated each year on 18th October.

Parva Mundi Duo composed of Ivana Marija Vidović and Koji Miura is a Croatian-Japanese classical music duo which will have a concert on October 6th, 7th and 8th 2018, in Bari, Italy. Their program consists of the pieces of Debussy, Liszt, Faure, Piazola, as well as of Croatian and Japanese authors. Both musicians have recently participated with great success at the 12th Epidaurus Festival in Cavtat (near Dubrovnik) in Croatia, of which Ivana Marija Vidovic is the founder and director.

Luka Modrić (on the photo with his wife Vanja) Croatia and Real Madrid midfielder, has collected The Best FIFA Men’s Player 2018 award in London. Visibly moved by the experience, he later shared his feelings about the stunning 2017/18 season that led to this crowning moment. It’s not easy to reach the top, but staying there is even harder. I’ve been at the top for a few years now and I hope I can stay there for a few more.

Dino Radja (211 cm), Croatian basketball player born in the city of Split in 1967, continued his career as NBA player in Boston Celtics, USA, since 1993. He was a memember of Croatian national team which won the silver medal at the Olympic games in Barcelona in 1992. His very close friends were NBA stars Dražen Petrović and Toni Kukoč, also from Croatia.

Yoko Nishii, japanska pijanistica, održati će glasovirski koncert 13. rujna u 20:00 sati u Hrvatskom domu Herceg Stjepan Kosača u Mostaru. Koncert pod nazivom “Prijateljstvo Japana i Mostara” organizira Hrvatska akademija znanosti i umjetnosti, Hrvatsko kulturno društvo “Napredak” i Hrvatski dom Herceg Stjepan Kosača. Po prvi puta u Mostaru, u dugogodišnjem prijateljstvu Japana i Mostara, svirati će djela Bacha, Listza, Rachmaninoffa, japanskog skladatelja Kosaku Yamada, Dore Pejačević i Živka Ključe.

Ivana Marija Vidović, Croatian pianist and poet, is the founder and director of the Epidaurus Festival in Cavtat, Croatia, which this year enters into its 12th season. Cavtat, a lovely town on Croatian coast, near the city of Dubrovnik, has become a meeting point of music, dance, painting and beautiful nature. This time, among other distinguished guests, will be Renzo Ruggieri, Italian jazz accordion player.

The 2018 MEMO competition (Middle European Mathematical Olympiad) has been organized in Poland, and 66 students have participated from 11 countries: Austria, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Hungary, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine. Noel Lakić of Croatia has won gold medal with 100% success. As a team, Croatia has achieved big succes: the second place, before Hungary and after Ukraine, which has been invited as a guest of the competition.

Luka Modric of Croatia, on Aug 30, 2018, received the accolade of UEFA Player of the Year in Monaco after his Champions League exploits. “My father always pushed me to fight for my dreams, I owe him a lot for everything,” said Modric, whose silky midfield skills helped Real to a third straight European crown and then propelled Croatia to the World Cup final. “It’s incredible moment for me, I feel really excited and proud of this great award,” said the 32-year-old, who started out at Dinamo Zagreb and then had four years with Tottenham before Real prised him away six years ago.

I sam osoba koja se godinama bori s bolešću, posebno je senzibiliziran za svaki projekt koji uključuje osobe ograničenih mogućnosti. Hedona, projekt zapošljavanja osoba s invaliditetom sve više prerasta u uspješan proizvodni brand, križevačku čokoladu! Nenad Bach u ambijentu Choco bara Hedone, u zgradi Razvojnog centra i tehnološkog parka, razgovarao je s Goranom Borčićem, direktorom Hedone i Petrom Gatarićem, predsjednikom Udruge osoba s invaliditetom Križevci.

Yoko Nishii’s concert, to be held in Sinj, Alka Halls, on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 20.00, will honor 180th anniversary of Franciscan classic grammar school in Sinj and 25th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Croatia and Japan. She studied at the music academies in Japan and Croatia. This will her 47th soloist concert in Croatia. Yoko has prepared an excellent double CD with works of Dora Pejačević, the first internationally known Croatian woman compser. Yoko-san speaks Croatian. Her music program at the concert will include J.S. Bach, Franz Liszt, Kosaku Yamada, Dora Pejačević and Sergei Rachmaninoff.

Croatian team is winner of the 2018 European Basketball U16 FIBA Competition in Novi Sad

Young Croatian basketball players, under the age of 16, have won the title of European champions in the competition organized by FIBA in Novi Sad. Having eleminated France in the semifinals, Croatia managed to achieve a very narowin of 71:70 in a dramatic match with Spanish boys. Roko Prkačin on the photo was proclaimed as the most valuable player, and he was elected to the All-Star Five, along with another Croatian player Boris Tišma. Croatia has already won two champion titles, in 2010 and 2011.

Brothers Šime and Mihovil Fantela of Croatia have sensationally won gold medals at the 2018 Sailing World Championship in 49er class, organized in Aarhus, Denmark. Nobody has expected this triumph, not even the Fantela brothers. The silver medals have been won by French team, and the bronze medals by German team.

They have confirmed their dominance on the world scene during the last years, since they are also World champions and Olympic champions. Resli, jubili, pivali, guštali, sičali se, sanjali. … Ne znan kako vaman, ali meni je ona najtipičnija slika Dalmacije zalaz sunca iza otoka, bonaca, i zvuk četverotaktnog motora na trabukulu negdi u kanalu. Croatian presence at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russian Federation has caused unprecedented interest world-wide for various reasons. First of all, due to the quality of players like Madrić, Rakitić, Mandžukić, Lovren etc., their determination in each game to show the maximum, and above all, on the human side. Presence of their wives and children added a special flavor, as well as respect for sportsmen from other countries, since today there are not easy opponents. Probably the most interesting was exceptionally warm reception of Croatian players not only in their homeland, but also wroldwide. On the photo Luka Modrić with his beautiful wife Vanja Bosnić.

Renata Novoselec author of a new violin methodology for teaching deaf

Renata Novoselec, Zagreb, Croatia, is an author of a new methodology of learning how to play the violin. In addition to the developmental component, the project has therapeutic goals. It is focused on deaf people, and also on those with physical and mental disabilities. It is available for anyone who wants to learn how to play the violin, but hasn’t had any formal musical education yet. According to Thomas Sanderling, world’s famous German conductor, ‘It is revolution in world of music and in world of deaf people.’
