GLOBALVISION’S FILM “WE ARE FAMILY” OPENS MARCH 8 AT THE SCREENING ROOM
THEATRE IN TRIBECA
The Globalvision production WE ARE FAMILY, which received a standing
ovation at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, is having a theatrical premiere at the
Screening Room, the only open movie theater near Ground Zero in New York at 54
Varick Street (at Canal) on March 8 for a week run. The Tommy Boy film
chronicles the efforts of 200 well known artists, celebs and many others in
responding to the events of Sepetember ll with a rousing celebration of
the values of tolerance and the need to promote global understanding.
WE ARE FAMILY was conceived as a dynamic way to affirm our culture and the
victims. Many artists raised money, We Are Family raised awareness and
symbolized a commitment to encourage unity, tolerance and global
understanding. Veteran filmmaker Spike Lee donated his services to direct
the music video. And Globalvision’s Emmy-award winning documentary film
producer Danny Schechter documented the sessions-exploring how and why the
bonds of family stir people the world over. Some of the greatest divas,
rockers, rappers, Broadway stars, actors and athletes not only sang their
hearts out, but talked about their own pain and hope at a time when hope

the World Economic Forum in New York and received an ovation at the first
plenary. It was directed by Danny Schechter and produced by Anant Singh,
our partner who leads Videovision in South Africa. Editorial/editing
services by RAINLAKE, postproduction by Whimsical LdtŠDanny Schechter
keynotes the Global Entertainment Summit at the Hammerstein Ballroom on
West 34th Street in New York on March 2nd. He will be the featured speaker
at an investigative journalism conference in Sweden in mid-March. His
assessment of press coverage of the WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM will be featured
in the next edition of EARTH TIMES…
Watch for “COUNTING ON DEMOCRACY.” Globalvision’s investigative film on
what really happened in Florida during the 2000 elections is being
finished this month for a Spring release. Danny Schechter directs. Faye
