Ante Sardelic Kraljevic and the Vukovar Gong of World Peace donated by Indonesia in 2019
The Gong of World Peace, donated by the Republic of Indonesia, was officially unveiled in the city of Vukovar on September 22nd, 2019, by H.E. Mr. Dyujoto Suntani, president of the World Peace Council, and Mr. Ivan Penava, mayor of the city of Vukovar, on the photo. It was placed in a local park, which was decorated by the works of art of distinguished Croatian artist Mr. Ante Sardelić Kraljević, living in Canada. The decorations include messages written in Croatian Glagolitic Script. In the cultural program, a group of Kumpanija Dancers participated, originating from the town of Blato on the Croatian island of Korčula, in which Mr. Sardelić was born.

Ivan Padovec distinguished Croatian classical guitarist from the 19th century
Ivan Padovec 1800-1873 (known also as Johann Padowetz or Jean Padowetz), was distinguished Croatian guitar player and composer. His original compositions reveal virtuosity of a great master. He also composed pieces for guitar accompanied with other string instruments. During his lifetime he had numerous concerts concerts not only in Croatia, but throughout Europe: in Vienna, Graz, Prague, Brno, Budapest, Frankfurt, Hannover, Hamburg, London, etc. He constructed a ten string guitar with two necks, which is kept in the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb. In 2006 the Mel Bey publishing company in the USA has issued his collected works. Padovec was born in the city of Varaždin, known for its Baroque architecture and a rich music tradition.

Mervan Pasic and Darko Zubrinic Croatian mathematicians at the Research Institute of Math Sciences in Kyoto
Mervan Pašić and Darko Žubrinić, two Croatian mathematicians from the University of Zagreb, had a great honour to have been invited to Japan in November 2012, to the University of Science in Okayama, and to the prestigious Research Institute of Mathematical Sciences (RIMS) of the University of Kyoto. They both delivered two lectures at two international meetings. In Kyoto they both had 50 min. lectures. Croatia's Giovanni Cernogoraz wins Olympic men's trap gold in London 2012
“This gold medal is fantastic,” said Cernogoraz, who in his daily life helps out in his family’s restaurant in Novigrad. “This is very good for me, for my family and for the country. I did not expect to win.” This is the second gold medal for Croatia at the 2012 Olympics Games in London.
Livio Marijan & Ivica Dundovic of Zadar Croatia won gold medal at the European Folklore Festival in Bulgaria
Ivica Dundović and Livio Marijan are winners of a prestitigious European Folklore Festival organized from 10th to 20th July 2012 in Bargas in Bulgaria, under the auspices of UNESCO. Besides the gold medal they also won the black orpheus, a prize of the public, the recommendation for the World Folklore Festival, and are recipients of a special diploma “Revelation of the Festival”. They were singing old, almost forgotton Croatian songs from Dalmatia, including traditional Glagolitic songs from the town of Kali on the island of Ugljan.
Passion Heritage of Croatians in The Danube Region conference held in Sombor 2012
Mrs Marija Šeremešić initiated organizing the international conference dealing with the Passion Heritage among Croatians in the Danube Region. It was held in the lovely town of Sombor, in cooperation with the local Croatian society called Urbani Šokci directed by Mrs Šeremešić, and by the Agency for Culture of Vojvodina Croatians from Subotica, directed by Mr Tomislav Žigmanov. The conference was superbly organized and very successful.

The 5th Croatian Mathematical Congress June 18-21 2012 has been very successfuly organized by The Department of Mathematics of the University of Rijeka, and The Croatian Mathematical Society. The Congress included six plenary lectures, 8 plenary lectures, a large number of short communications and posters, and three round tables. A young Croatian mathematician Igor Velčić (on the photo) from the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, was awarded the Prize of the Croatian Mathematical Society.

Croatian Festival in France in automn 2012 will have more than 60 events
More than 60 events held in 45 different locations will be the feature of the 2012 Croatian Festival in France which is to be held from September to December, confirmed Croatia’s Ministry of Culture. The official opening of the Festival will be on 9 October in the Cluny Museum in Paris, where it is expected that the presidents of the two countries will open the Croatian medieval art exhibition. Saša Ćasić is 28 year old professional wine maker from the town of Pakrac on Croatian north. He has been awarded as the most successful young entrepreneur in 2012 by the Ministry of Enterpreneurship and Crafts of the Republic of Croatia.
