The Zagreb concerts of U2 are scheduled for August 9th and 10th. The 10th of August concert was sold out in just a few hours, so organisers and the band arranged an additional concert, for which you may still buy your tickets. The concerts are to be held at Maksimir Stadium. In 1995 Bono recited a verse written in 1628 by Croatian poet Ivan Gundulić: O lijepa, o draga, o slatka slobodo… (O beautiful, o beloved, o sweet liberty…).

Republic of Croatia is scheduled to formally join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) together with Albania at a summit marking the bloc’s 60th anniversary during April 3-4. 2009. World`s Longest Sausage Made In Vinkovci Croatia
On Saturday February 14, 2009 Croatians in Vinkovci cooked up what they claim to be the world’s largest sausage, measuring 530 metres or 1,738 feet. Organisers said the sausage was the world’s largest and could feed as many as 3,000 people, but adding it was merely “training” for next year when they plan to produce a sausage measuring 1,000 metres. GAVRANFEST 2009 in Trnava Slovakia February 23 – 27, 2009
Since 2003, the Jan Palarik Theatre from Trnava, Slovakia has organised a theatre festival that is unique in Europe, at which only the dramas and comedies of the Croatian author, Miro Gavran, are performed. This year’s GAVRANFEST is the fourth to be organised and it will be held between February 23 and 27, with theatres from five countries taking part: Slovakia, Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland and Croatia.

The match was also a revenge of Croatian handball team for the defeat they suffered from Spain in the match for the third place at the Olympics in Beijing. Nenad Bach is Baack and Wanted – performance at Fairleigh Dickinson University
Nenad began the set behind the piano and performed a new ballad: “Everything is Forever.” The song was in the mood of most of Nenad’s previous rich resume of recordings, but it managed to be both melancholy and optimistic. Perhaps that is possible when one has a long track record of engagement on and off the stage. We hope to see more of Nenad’s vault full of talent and vision into the future, and the audience that night certainly was left looking for more.

The CRAVAT instead of a TIE and NECKTIE
On the occasion of the International Day of The Cravat on the 18th of October we invite all the English speaking individuals to call the knotted scarf around their neck by it’s original name the cravat instead of tie and necktie. The earliest known cravat in history was worn by Ivan Gundulić from the City of Dubrovnik, a famous Croatian poet from the 17th century.

The web site croatian.cri.cn was solemnly opened by China Radio International during a nice ceremony held in Zagreb in July 2nd 2008. It was launched in the presence of Chinese ambassador in Croatia His Excellency Mr. Wu Lianqi and other distinguished guests. It represents the first web site in Croatian language in China.

Stjepan Hauser, a young and prosperous Croatian violoncellist, performed on 18th June 2008 with the Philharmonia Orchestra on Gala Ceremony at St. James’ Palace, a Royal residence in London. The event was attended by Prince Charles. Stjepan recently performed at the Buckingham Palace on 23rd April 2008.
International Children's Festival in Šibenik
International Children’s Festival in Šibenik, Croatia, promotes aesthetical education of children and young adults, and develops all artistic forms of children’s creativity. The festival has the support of the UNICEF and UNESCO, as well as the permanent sponsorship of the President of Croatia. The first festival was held in 1958, ie 50 years ago.
